Are Grillz Safe?

Posted on 12/1/2023 by Weo Admin

Well, they sure are a show of class, right? Grillz can be permanent or removable. They are constructed to cover the teeth and are made from a metal of choice, depending on the person. They usually cover more than one tooth.

Grillz made their way into mainstream pop culture in the early 1980s. They are used as an expression of self-identity and to show off. However, they might not be a healthy choice for your smile.

Safety Concerns

Grillz are flashy and classy, but they pose a danger to your oral health. By wearing Grillz, you increase your chances of getting gum disease or even cavities. That is because of the bacteria that gets trapped between them and the surface of the tooth. These bacteria might build up and cause serious consequences to the health of your mouth. The bacteria feed off the sugar that comes from the foods you eat and produce harmful acid that corrodes the teeth. Moreover, the bacteria can irritate the gums, leading to periodontal diseases. If these issues are not addressed, they can cause tooth loss.

Moreover, grillz do not perform any function. You might be tempted to think that they keep the teeth in place, but that is not the case. It might cause misalignment of your tooth structure if they are worn for a long time. Also, they can interfere with your bite function. That makes it difficult for you to close your mouth.

How To Take Care of Grillz

If you already have Grillz, you are advised to care for them following these instructions. Take care to keep them clean to avoid plaque and bacteria buildup. Moreover, use a soft-bristled brush to clean them, and make sure to remove them before eating. Visit us today for more information on how to enhance their safety.
